  • Mr. Carlos CASTRO
    Mr. Carlos Castro is Head of Copyright and Copyright Affairs within the International Olympic Committee’s Legal Affairs Division, since August 2013. Before being appointed at the IOC, Carlos worked as a Consultant in the Copyright Law Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), joining WIPO in March 2011, where he participated in the negotiation process and successful adoption of the Beijing Treaty (2012) and the Marrakech Treaty (2012). He is a lawyer licensed to practice in Colombia.He currently undertakes the Post-graduate Diploma/Master in UK, EU and US Copyright Law at King’s College London; holds an LL.M degree in Intellectual Property from the Autonomous University of Madrid; a D.S.U. (Master level) in Administrative Law from the University of Paris II – Panthéon-Assas, and has pursued further post-graduate studies in Copyright, Intellectual Property and International Public Law in Argentina, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Carlos practiced law in Latin-America in contentious and non-contentious matters related to Industrial Property, Copyright, Unfair Competition, Antitrust and Consumer Protection. He also worked within a collective management organization in Europe, where he served as an Intern Legal Assistant for the Spanish Audio-Visual Producer’s Rights Management Association (EGEDA).Carlos also worked as a lawyer for the French multinational Alain Afflelou’s legal department in Spain, and as a Researcher for the Colombian Telecommunications Commission (CRT) and the Centre for Studies in Competition Law (CEDEC). While completing his Juris Doctor studies, he served for two years as a Public Defender at the Legal Aid Clinic of the Faculty of Law, at Javeriana University on civil, family and criminal law matters. Carlos has participated as a lecturer in various Copyright matters in different academic and professional forums in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

    Mr. Stephen Townley is the Chairman of LawAccord and Active Rights Management Limited;
    Foreign Law Consultant, Withers KhattarWong, Withers LLP (Singapore Branch);
    Panel of Technical Experts, Singapore International Mediation Centre; Member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport; and is Solicitor, International Arbitrator and Mediator Sport, Entertainment and Media.Stephen Townley has a unique understanding of the economic and legal models that create and deliver value to sport and the importance of IP. His legal firm Townleys was well known to the federations.Stephen has been active in the ASEAN region since 1993. He was director of the largest football business in Asia that developed and managed the AFC commercial programme. ARM was retained to create a sports strategy to support the funding and development of the Singapore Sports Hub. More recently Stephen has been developing new technologies to identify and resolve conflict in sport through its Dispute Avoidance, Resolution Management (DSARM) brand.Stephen has a long association with global events and International Sports Federations, going back to 1981. Stephen established LawAccord in 2003 as a platform to share knowledge between the legal community and the sports community. The 2018 event will be held as part of the SportAccord Convention in Bangkok.

Then worked in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as Broadcast and Media Specialist for Middle East & Eastern Europe. Now with his new role as Vice-President of Sports Commercial Division at Mahkota Promotion, Masdian is focusing on bringing international athletes to Indonesia for the promotion of international events.

  • Mr. Bajoe WIBOWO
    Mr. Bajoe Wibowo, a national of Indonesia, has been working for more than 19 years at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and holds a Master Degree in Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), as well as a second Master Degree in Management from the same Institute.Mr. Wibowo has handled various assignments at WIPO, dealing with issues related to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT); Patent information; IP and Economic Development, and was involved in the political process of the WIPO Development Agenda.He is presently Project Manager in the Office of the Deputy Director General, Development Sector, and Managing the WIPO Match platform which is an online tool to match seekers of specific intellectual property (IP)-related development needs with potential providers offering resources. This service amplifies WIPO’s resources and multiplies existing partnerships.Mr. Wibowo has represented WIPO as a Speaker in more than 70 countries in different regions in the world.
